I’ve been working with javascript a lot lately. Basically just learning how get things done by building a personal project. I’ve decided that it might be a good idea to make another site where I share what I have learned … both with the world as wellas with future me. If you’re interested in this kind of thing, check it out: javascript.mfields.org

I’m learning JavaScript, as well. I am tired of being made fun of as a front ender who puts jQuery on her resume instead of JavaScript!
jQuery’s pretty rad :) I never feel guilty adding it to the resume. Hell, I’ll probably be writing about it more than plain-ole-javascript actually. Just makes life easier in sooo many ways :)
Are there any good books on JS you recommend? I’m reading Eloquent JavaScript for my book club, and I have JavaScript the Good Parts, but it’s just too techie for me. I also greatly enjoy jQuery Novice to Ninja by SitePoint, and I usually don’t like SitePoint books.
You have a book club that reads javascript books?!?!?! That’s awesome :) I’ve never actually read one on the topic myself. I like to watch videos instead. This one’s great: 10 Things I Learned from the jQuery Source.
I find that watching people code is the best way I can learn. I’ve seen many shorter videos that I can’t remember and each time a little light-bulb goes off in my head.
If you want you can try to ask me a question about js – maybe something that doesn’t make sense from “…the Good Parts” book – and I’ll try to answer it. Just a thought :)
I’ll keep that in mind!
Regarding the book club, because I am always reading several tech books at the same time, I don’t have time to attend “normal” book clubs. So I started one for other web designers and developers who can’t stop reading in their fields. It’s called “The Triangle Web PRofessionals Book Club” and we decide on a new book each month. After we read it, we get together and talk about it over booze at a local tapas bar or pub. It’s a lot of fun! Definitely my kind of book club.
Ooh! Followed! Can’t wait to see what cool stuff you post there!
Also: I love the new theme! I hadn’t been to your site in a while (between following you on twitter, looking for new code on github, and subscribing to RSS in reader, I guess I just didn’t have the occasion…). The comments section is my favorite part about it.
Rock on!
